Becoming a Governor

***We are currently recruiting for a Co-Opted Governors, particularly in the skills and expertise areas of education, Finance, Human resources and Health & Safety/premises. If School Governance is something that you would be interested in, or you know someone that may be (they do not have to be a parent), then please see the attached advert below for further information ***

The Governing body are always interested to hear from parents or members of the Community who would like to find out more about becoming a Governor.  From time to time vacancies occur and we also often have opportunities to become an Associate Member working on a more project based basis. Please speak to any of the Governors or contact us at if you have:

  • an interest in the performance of the school
  • an enquiring mind and the confidence to ask questions and join in debate
  • the time and flxibility to attend Full Governing Board meetings and Committee meetings, and  visit school during school hours every couple of months

You don't necessarily need to have specialist knowledge or experience. Enthusiasm and interest is much more important to start with and there is tried and tested training and support available to help you throughout your term of office.  And remember, you will be joining a long established governing board and will be supported by fellow governors with many years of combined experience.

For anyone who has taken a break from work but intends going back at some stage, becoming a school governor is an ideal way to refresh or develop the workplace skills much in demand by employers e.g. teamworking, analysis, problem-solving, implementation, communication.

Being a governor can be enjoyable, stimulating and rewarding, so why not get in contact and get involved in education!
