Inter House Music Competition 2016

On Friday 8th July the Downley School held its annual Music Inter-House Competition.

This year the competitors were all of an extremely high level making the judges (Mrs Soffe, Miss Eastell, Miss Maund and Mr Rutland) decisions extremely difficult.

There were four categories: the vocalist category, woodwind/ brass category, string category and the open category. All of the performers did a fantastic job and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Many members for the audience praised the competitors for their courage and talent.

The hardest part of the event was deciding on the winners!

This year it was decided that Emma (Year 5) would win the vocalist category with her a cappella version of “Your Song”.

Elizabeth (Year 4) would win the woodwind/ brass category playing a beautiful piece on the flute.

Lucy (Year 6) would win the string category with a complex piece on her harp.

Mickey (Year 3) would win the other category with a jazzy piece on the piano.

The afternoon was a great success and the pupils’ performances were superb. We cannot wait for next year!
