“Learning, Growing and Succeeding Together”

Secondary Transfer Support

"Leaving primary school behind and transferring to secondary school is an important and exciting milestone in your child’s life. However, many Year 6 pupils, and their parents/carers, have difficulties and anxieties about this big step.

Concerns often include issues like:

  • bullying,
  • making friends,
  • coping with the workload,
  • confidence and self-esteem,
  • and many more.

These concerns can cause children (and their families!) significant stress and anxiety during Year 6, the summer holidays, and at the beginning of Year 7. These anxieties may not only spoil what should be an exciting time for you and your child, but also impact on their mental health, confidence, self-esteem, and learning.

Research shows that extra support during Year 6 and Year 7 can help to reduce children’s anxieties and stress and increase their confidence, self-esteem, peer relationships and independence."

Please come in to school to discuss any matters of concern with our Family Worker Mrs Wilding. She is available to support you and your child through the process and to make it as smooth as possible.
