Showing 'Compassion' in March!

'Compassion' is our value of the month.
In our school we see fantastic models of this value.
Our school prayer includes the value of compassion
The Downley School Prayer
Here in our school, let us be peaceful at all times.
Let our rooms be full of happiness and respect for each other.
Let love be in our hearts, with kindness and compassion for all.
Let us remember, in learning together, we grow together and succeed together.
It’s important to recognise how fortunate we are in many ways, to show gratitude for what we have and to do what we can to support those who are much less fortunate than us – or those who find themselves in difficult situations. Charities are organisations, based on compassion, which positively change or even save lives. Many of us in school have first-hand experiences of working with charities who have either helped ourselves or our families; as global citizens, many of us also support charities who do incredible work on a worldwide basis.
When we learn about and support charities, we are showing compassion for others. This month we are supporting Comic Relief/Red Nose Day (www.comicrelief.com) on Friday, 13th March, and have invited mums and grandmas in to school for Mums In School Day.
Please see our Values assembly to learn more about what the children at The Downley School say about compassion and to find out more about the work of Comic Relief.
