Buckinghamshire County SFA Finals
On Saturday 14th November the boys represented High Wycombe in the county finals. We were placed in a group of three schools- the top two going through to the semi finals. Our first game was a tough encounter against Stoke Poges which ended in a 0-0 draw. The second game against St Michael's from Aylesbury proved to be easier and we ran out 4-0 victors. This meant we progressed to the semi finals where we met Gerrards Cross School. We played some superb football and were comfortable winners scoring four goals with no reply from our opponents.
In the final we met Stoke Poges who we had already played in the group phase. We quickly established ourselves in the match and following lots of pressure on their goal scored to lead 1-0 at half time. The second half was a close fought affair withbotyh defences called on to make timely interceptions. No more goals were scored so The Downley School boys were crowned champions of Buckinghamshire and will now go forward to represent the county at the regional finals to be played in Greenwich,London in the new year.
This is a phenominal achievement and one thoroughly deserved by the boys who all played superbly in the finals.
