Welcome to our school website.
I am very proud to be able to share with you the wonderful opportunities and developments at The Downley School.
We are a vibrant school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve endless possibilities. The children are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure that they are happy and confident. The opportunities that are provided for them are relevant to their needs, both now and for the future.
Through our engaging Irresistible Curriculum, we ensure that children can foster a passion for learning and curiosity that will help to develop high aspirations and a lifetime of memories. We believe in ensuring that children receive a well-rounded curriculum where individual talents can be spotted and nurtured to ensure that all children experience success and reach their full potential.
'Learning, Growing and Succeeding Together'.
Our Irresistible Curriculum is exciting and innovative, giving all pupils the opportunity to be successful and develop a wide range of skills. They work inside and outside the classroom on a weekly basis. We believe that we are developing the whole child which includes their health and mental well being. Most importantly, we want every child to develop a life long love for learning. Through this approach, we promote high standards whilst fostering creativity and imagination, so encouraging children to be self-motivated learners.
We have a 'values-based' approach to the curriculum alongside this and to all areas of school life which pervades throughout the School. We explore a focus value each month, building an ethical vocabulary and a skill set to help us make the best of all opportunities in life by learning how to 'be the best we can be' - and helping others to do the same.
The School has a dedicated team that works hard to reach high standards in everything we do and this is further embedded through our successful relationships with parents/carers and the local community. We are fortunate to be supported by a large and well-informed governing board and our PA is active throughout the year, raising valuable funds for the School.
The School’s website contains a considerable amount of information and our pupils and staff regularly update its content. I would ask you to visit the website on a regular basis to find out about developments. There is a class blog icon to read about individual classes or top icons to find further information. If you are unable to find what you are looking for, or you have some suggestions on how we can improve our website, please do not hesitate to contact us.
