The Downley School

“Learning, Growing and Succeeding Together”

Year 2 homework

You will find your child's login in their reading record. A task will be set every Monday. The children have a week to complete each task.

Two reading books will go out on a Tuesday. Reading books will need to be back in school on a Monday so that they can be changed.

E.g routine for reading:

Monday - Parent reads

Tuesday - child reads for decoding

Wednesday - child reads for fluency

Thursday - Ask and answer questions

Learning Logs

The red book is the learning log. Every half-term, six tasks will be set. The tasks can be completed in any order. The book must be brought back into school on a Friday. We will look at and acknowledge the work.

- You may interpret the tasks in your own way. Use your strengths, skills, talents and interests to show what you know.

- BE CREATIVE! Try out different ways of doing things.

- Make your work the best quality you can.

- Let your family help you and learn from their talents.

A yellow spelling book will come home, on a Monday, with 5 spellings to learn. There will be a spelling test the following Monday. Dates will always be in the book.

Children can use the book to practise their spellings or complete any of the tasks from the grid at the front.

Please bring in the yellow books on a Monday, with the learning logs so that the new spellings can be given out on a Monday.

Teachers will keep track of scores and if they have any concerns, will contact parents. This will form part of our assessment for termly reports therefore, individual results will not be shared weekly.
