Inclusion
Vision Statement for Inclusion at The Downley School
At The Downley School, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every child is welcomed, valued, and supported, regardless of faith, ability, gender, ethnicity, background, or personal circumstances. We believe that all children should fully participate in every aspect of school life, promoting a deep sense of belonging within our diverse community.
Inclusion at our school means celebrating each child’s unique qualities and successes. We are dedicated to recognising individual achievements while fostering an ethos of mutual respect, understanding, and encouragement. Every child has access to a high-quality curriculum that meets their needs, enabling them to thrive both academically and personally.
Our goal is to nurture independent learners through meaningful learning experiences and personal growth. We celebrate diverse talents and interests, recognising that education encompasses more than assessments and benchmarks. By empowering children to appreciate their own and others' successes, we create a supportive community that honours individual achievements.
We ensure appropriate support for all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), medical conditions, English as Additional Language (EAL) learners, gifted and talented pupils, and those facing social or emotional challenges. By removing barriers to learning, we enable every child to engage fully in school life. We work closely with families, outside agencies, and the wider community to provide tailored support, ensuring every pupil has the resources and opportunities to succeed.
Together, we celebrate individuality, promote equality, and create an environment where every learner can flourish. At our school, inclusion is at the heart of ‘Learning, Growing & Succeeding Together.’
