Year 6 Netball Tournament
Saturday 11th November 2017
On Saturday 11th November 2017, nine Year 6 girls competed in a netball tournament at Kingsmead Netball Centre. After a shaky start, the girls put in some great performances showing some strong attacking, shooting and defending skills. They finished 5th out of 10 teams displaying great sportsmanship and consistently demonstrated our school Values of determination, positivity and self belief. Very well done!
In 2016, The Downley School Netball teams have once again had a very successful year.
In October, a team of Year 6 girls entered the HWJNA tournament at Kingsmead netball centre. The girls played really well showing great sportsmanship during all of the games and finishing in a very worthy mid table position.
In March, we entered 2 teams into the Spring tournament. For some girls, this was their first taste of competitive netball! Due to excellent coaching from Mrs Lane and Mrs Aitken, the girls did themselves proud with the B team coming 3rd.
We were once again very successful in our league matches this year only losing 1 of our 5 matches and finishing second in the league.
The girls have all been a credit to themselves and to our school.
Very well done to everyone involved!

Well done to all of the girls and thank you to everyone who supported them.

On Thursday 19th March, the Year 6 netball team played their first league match against Carrington School.
The girls put in a fabulous performance! They took an early lead and after a well fought match they won by 4 goals to 1. This was a great start to our season which continues with matches against Manor Farm and Monks Risborough next week. Very well done to the girls and to Mrs Lane and Mrs Aitken for taking the girls to their first victory.
The girls finished their season by competing in the HWJNA tournament and playing a league match against Naphill School. All of the girls put in great performances against some very tough opposition; for some, the tournament was their first experience of playing netball matches. A big thank you goes out to Mrs Aitken and Mrs Lane for all of the time they give to the club and for their great coaching - and to Mrs Gippert for her support too!
